Pre-requisite/Co-requisite: 

Course level pre-requisite: a total of 24 credit points (15 credit points, including ICT101A, ICT102A, ICT103A, DAT101A from level 100 and 9 credit points from level 200 core subjects) prior enrolling into level 300 core and specialisation subjects.

Subject Rationale:

 This capstone subject provides students with the opportunity to synthesise, apply, and extend the specialised knowledge and skills they have accumulated throughout their course. In various IT contexts, students will undertake a hands-on, collaborative, and interdisciplinary IT project. Working in teams, students will learn to demonstrate professional ethics, global citizenship, and skilled collaboration while maintaining independent management and accountability for their team contributions.   

 Students will build a field-specific IT solution as per their specialist domain, applying their innovative problem-solving, technology, and information literacy skills. They will also exhibit effective communication skills by collating their findings in a well-compiled report format and presenting their solution to others which they will produce by implementing project management lifecycle phases, conforming to industry best practices, and maintaining professional relationships among team members.  

Learning Outcomes:

a) Synthesise knowledge and skills acquired during the course, conceptualise and deliver an IT-driven project that addresses a real-world problem in line with the latest trends and challenges of the IT industry.

b) Plan an interdisciplinary IT project and methodologically implement it by executing project management governance and lifecycle processes, applying professional standards of the IT industry in conjunction with relevant legal provisions.

c) Conduct scholarly and industry research on recent literature pertaining to information technology, demonstrating the ability to apply learnings to own project.

d) Use sound verbal and written communication skills to document, report, and communicate an IT project to an academic and/or professional audience.

e) Work productively and responsibly as an individual with autonomy and collaboratively as a team member, demonstrating ethical and professional conduct.
