The International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) and the International Sports College Australia (ISCA) celebrate over 20 years sponsoring the Manly Marlins Rugby Club.
Serving as the preferred Higher Education provider and as a Gold Sponsor for the Marlins Grade and Colts, as well as the Mermaids, the sponsorship reinforces ICMS’ vital role in shaping the educational and athletic paths of aspiring young athletes within the Manly Marlins community.
“This collaboration is not just about supporting athletes; it’s about investing in the future of rugby and empowering young individuals to excel both on and off the field,” ICMS Professional Scholarships Chair Ann Whitelock said.
The Manly Rugby Union Football Club was established in 1906. Known as the Marlins, Manly Oval is their home ground and teams compete in New South Wales Rugby Union competitions such as the Shute Shield and Tooheys New Cup.
Located within the heart of the Northern Beaches community, ICMS’ campus overlooks Manly, reflecting the longstanding connection between the college and the Manly Marlins.
The strong bond between ICMS and the Marlins was evident at the recent ANZAC Day matches against the Warringah Rats.
There was a massive local turnout at the event that took place on a beautiful autumn day in Manly. A moving ceremony reminded all to recommit to the legends of the ANZACs through supporting each other, strengthening families, communities, and the nation.
In another connection between ICMS and the Marlins, Whitelock previously served on the Board of the Manly Rugby Foundation.
The collaboration involving ICMS, ISCA, and the Manly Marlins ensures that the assistance given is not just impactful but customised to meet the specific needs of nurturing grassroots rugby talent.
ICMS and ISCA award scholarships to elite athletes to support their skill development and educational goals.
They also offer these opportunities to rural candidates to ensure fairness and access to education and sports development, no matter where they live.
This strategy promotes diversity in sports and gives talented individuals from different backgrounds the chance to succeed.
“This partnership aims to promote progress, fairness, and excellence in both education and sports. It not only strengthens support for grassroots rugby but also opens doors for upcoming athletes to excel in different settings,” Whitelock said.
“Overall, this collaboration makes a significant impact by empowering athletes and advancing rugby development for the future.”
