Subject Aim:

The aim of this subject is to provide you with an understanding of the contribution of innovation toward developing new and existing tourism projects. The subject will provide you with theories in regard to the contribution of technology as well as practical skills in the use of a range of technologies used in the tourism industry. The subject will demonstrate the importance of innovation and technology using case studies.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the product innovation and development process for tourism products and services
  • Identify factors that drive product and service innovation in tourism
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the potential risks and rewards associated with product development
  • Identify key technologies used within the industry and the benefits associated with the introduction of these new technologies
  • Be aware of the historical underpinnings of the development of ICTs in Tourism

This Subject has a blend of applied learning assessment tasks,academic research and business research. All assessment briefs will be available on moodle and we will go through in week 2 in class
