Subject Rationale:

Due to the complexity of the global business environment, there is a need for MBA graduates to understand financial management and its function within an organisation.

In this subject, students will learn how to read, analyse, and interpret financial data as well as evaluate business performance based on real life scenarios, making decisions about business funding, capital investments, optimising a firm’s capital structure, and how and when to return capital to investors.

Students will evaluate various challenges and limitations associated with trying to achieve positive outcomes for various groups of stakeholders. They will explore relationships between the organisational goal of increasing its value, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and its impact on society and the environment.

Students will also have an opportunity to practice common management accounting techniques they will encounter as leaders, such as cost, performance measurement, budgeting and forecasting as well as techniques focused on improving value-creating activities and the sustainability of a business.
