This subject provides an applied study of the behaviour and management of human talent and organisations in the ever-changing business environment. The emphasis throughout will be on relevant theory and research, with a strong practical orientation.
In this subject, students will examine individual differences, such as personality traits and values, behaviour in decision making, motivational theory and organisational culture. A psychometric tool is planned to be utilised to address some of these topics and to introduce students to reflective practice regarding their own inherent and learnt talent. These aspects are relevant for effective teamwork and collaboration which is included in this subject with the intention to equip students with the skills to work effectively in study groups.
When considering talent and the future of work, aspects such as the power of purpose, future careers, workplace systems, talent management strategies, working relationships and other topics, including ERS aspects that have implications for the workplace of the future, will be examined.
a) Critically evaluate a range of future oriented organisation theories, organisational and human behaviour, talent management and personality theories, frameworks and models
b) Apply theory to analyse and inform improvements in the management of talent and the future place of work
c) Critically reflect upon their own talents and their approach to teamwork, including issues of effective collaboration, communication and negotiation
d) Argue the importance of diversity and inclusivity to develop strategies for sustainable organisational effectiveness
