Entrepreneurship is the process of creating a new business venture by identifying a need in the market and developing an innovative product or service to fill that need. It is a dynamic and ever-evolving field that plays a vital role in driving innovation, job creation, and economic growth. It allows creative individuals to utilise enhanced conceptual knowledge and professional analytical skills to develop and implement innovative ideas considering ethics, social responsibility and cultural awareness in business and management. In doing so, they are able to critically appraise and balance the drive for outcomes against the associated risks in a variety of contexts.
The aim of this subject is to provide students with advanced knowledge and professional skills to meet the challenges faced in their entrepreneurship journey involving uncertainty, complexity and creativity. It teaches them to develop a high level of proficiency in entrepreneurship and innovation management concepts and theories. Students will be equipped with the ability to analyse and interpret the key factors that directly impact the way entrepreneurial initiatives are planned and executed.
a) Apply advanced theories underpinning entrepreneurship including management and leadership concepts.
b) Critically evaluate various professional challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
c) Identify and evaluate entrepreneurship opportunities considering ethics, social responsibility and cultural impact or technological innovations and profitability.
d) Succinctly communicate the balance between risk and potential outcomes/value to the organisation.
e) Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to address complex business problems.
