As the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) celebrated its November Graduations, the results of the Internal Graduate Survey* painted an optimistic picture for the future of its graduates.
With a fantastic 96% securing employment upon graduation, the survey highlights the effectiveness of the higher education institution’s educational approach, particularly through Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities.
The ICMS “castle on the hill” campus came alive with excited graduates and their families for the graduation ceremonies held on Friday, 1 November.
The events took place at the Cardinal Cerretti Chapel on the Northern Beaches Campus, marking a significant milestone for graduates from over 27 different countries who received their degrees.
Invited guests included Darryl Courtney-O’Connor, ICMS Chairman and Founder; Rowan Courtney-O’Connor, President and Managing Director of ICMS; Dr Heidi Le Sueur, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Learning and Teaching, as well as members of the ICMS Board, ICMS Faculty and industry partners.
ICMS Board Member Richard Gelski shared words of encouragement during the ceremonies: “Graduation marks the end of one chapter in your lives and the beginning of another.
“You leave as confident graduates, ready to face the world and make a positive impact. The road to graduation was not an easy one, but it was undoubtedly worth it. You are the leaders of tomorrow.”
Dr Le Sueur also addressed the graduates, stating, “What you hold in your hands, your degree, is far more than just a piece of paper. It is a foundation for what comes next.
“The world is constantly evolving, presenting both opportunities and challenges.
“At ICMS, we believe in the power of an industry-focused education and real-world experiences. We prepare students not just for jobs, but for impactful careers.
“As you leave today, go into the world as lifelong learners. You are equipped to shape your own path and make a meaningful impact.”
The November 2024 Internal Graduate Survey results show a strong connection between education and job opportunities.
With 96% of graduates securing jobs right after graduation, the data highlights how effective ICMS’s curriculum is in preparing students for the workforce.
Notably, 50% of graduates reported that they landed their current jobs with the company where they completed their Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements.
This figure highlights the valuable experience gained through WIL, allowing students to showcase their skills in real-world environments.
Furthermore, 74% of graduates indicated that their WIL company wanted them to continue working there.
This not only reflects the quality of ICMS students but also the benefits of engaging students in meaningful work experiences during their studies.
Just under three quarters (73%) of graduates confirmed that they found jobs in their field of education.
This emphasises how effectively the program helps graduates secure relevant job opportunities.
Perhaps most telling is that 91% of graduates reported using the knowledge and skills they learned in the classroom in their current jobs.
This establishes a clear link between their education and their professional success.
Based on student responses, ICMS’s main strengths lie in the following aspects:
The results from the November 2024 Internal Graduate Survey are a strong indication that ICMS is successfully preparing its graduates for industry.
With high employment rates and solid connections between academic learning and practical work, the future looks promising for ICMS graduates.
This success not only benefits the graduates but also positively impacts the industry, paving the way for skilled professionals ready to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.
