ICMS Featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar

December 11, 2019

The iconic International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) ‘Castle on the Hill’ formed the backdrop for the glittering Van Cleef & Arpels launch of the French jewellery company’s newest collection, Romeo & Juliet, which saw the college’s stunning main campus featured in both Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, among other media outlets.

Van Cleef & Arpels hosted the Australian High Jewellery Gala in November to coincide with the launch, and the lavish events were designed and executed by award-winning events company, Kat&Co, assisted by the ICMS events team, including an events intern, and multiple supporting vendors, such as Black & White Waiters which was founded by ICMS alumnus Alejandro Jara. ICMS students and alumni worked for Black & White Waiters, giving them invaluable exposure and behind-the-scenes experience of a high-end event.

“I believe ICMS was chosen for our unique heritage and the space capable of housing such grand project,” ICMS Functions and Venue Manager Natalie Watt said.

“A custom-built marquee, which took two weeks to complete, was designed to house the gala; the marquee engulfed the ICMS building’s front steps to allow fluid transition from indoor to outdoor space and to ensure the marquee structure and design fitted in with the heritage building.”

The imposing Sydney landmark, with its Gothic style and romantic central bell tower, played host to VIPs and celebrities, including Australia former foreign minister Julie Bishop, novelist Miranda Darling and entrepreneurs Anna and Kieran Lahey as well as art expert Viola Raikhel-Bolot among other VIPs, as they viewed exquisite jewels adorning statuesque models. Individual pieces of jewellery from the collection can carry multi-million dollar price tags.

Michelin-starred chef Bruno Menard was flown in to create the menu of the dinner which was served in the main hall. Editorial and photographs of the event have been featured in Vogue Australia and Harper’s Bazaar among other media outlets.

“Kat & Co is an award-winning event management agency; it was a privilege to have worked with them on their (and our) biggest project to date,” Watt said.

“The ICMS Venues’ team worked around the clock on event days to ensure the event ran smoothly.”

Higher education institute ICMS’ main campus in Northern Beaches, Sydney, NSW, is one of three ICMS campuses. The remaining two are located in Sydney, including a newly opened state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Sydney’s Business District.

“Networking is highly valued at ICMS and events such as these provide our students a unique opportunity to network and see for themselves what goes into putting on events of this calibre,” ICMS CEO and President Professor Dominic Szambowski said.

“As an institution, we were honoured and delighted to play host to an event of this magnitude. It’s great to see that ICMS is involved with such high-end brands, which is also timely as ICMS recently launched a Bachelor of Business Management (Fashion and Global Branding) degree.”
