ICMS is different from a university, in the traditional – large class, theory only focused sense. ICMS focuses on creating employable graduates rather than churning out graduates with little to no relevant work experience is one of the many career-focused attributes that set ICMS apart from what is commonly found in older, more traditional institutions like larger Australian universities.
The uncertain world today is even more focused on education that opens doors and makes graduates employable. As traditional universities try to come to grips with what industry wants, ICMS, a higher education institution continues to lead the way in career-focused education by offering a mix of practical and academic learning experiences that the likes of traditional universities struggle to do.
Guaranteed, Industry relevant work experience on your CV before you even graduate, smaller classes with personal attention, individual academic support and career-focused individual support are what the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) does so well.
“For almost 25 years ICMS has been industry driven and career focused. We are different from a university as our graduate employment rate is better than the G8 universities, and and we are sure we’ll continue to outperform in this area,” ICMS Chief Executive Officer Rowan Courtney-O’Connor said.
ICMS effectively offers skills and training that universities struggle to offer:
ICMS is different from a university because universities try to offer industry placements however, with large student numbers, it is far too complicated to place every student. Whereas Industry Training is a key part to who we are and what we do at ICMS. Every one of our degree students graduate with industry training; we have a dedicated work integrated team who places our students in real, world internships. Industry training is a subject, it’s a core part of the degree.

Small classes, whether virtual or face to face, are the norm at ICMS. The ICMS approach to education is about mentorship and individual attention. Our classes are around 30 in a class whereas universities have hundreds of students in lecture halls. A smaller class size at our higher education institution is an environment for academic, personal and professional success. This personalised approach gives prospective students the chance to shine as individuals.

ICMS students have access to 24/7 online academic support and one-on-one support. The individual attention that students get at ICMS does not stop outside of the classroom. All ICMS students have access to the Student Success Centre (SSC) and help from Academic Learning Advisors who will assist students to develop academic skills and prepare them for the transition to tertiary student life. Universities struggle to offer one on one support.
