September 2, 2024

Janene Wardrop, ICMS Program Manager for Events, won the ‘Mentor with the Most’ award at the The Vibes Awards in Sydney.

In event management, mentorship is crucial for nurturing future professionals, where experience and new ideas merge, and guidance fuels creativity.

Janene’s win was not just a personal achievement but also a clear indication of how seriously ICMS takes mentoring students to personal and professional success.

Celebrating Excellence in Mentorship

The Vibe Awards, organised by The Venues Collection, took place to honour the outstanding talent and dedication of business event professionals in Sydney.

Held on August 28 at Watersedge at Campbell’s Stores, the event was attended by over 200 industry professionals.

The awards recognised people in eight different categories of excellence in the events industry, with Janene winning the ‘Mentor with the Most’ award.

This award highlights her dedication to helping future event professionals and her strong commitment to mentorship.

“I was absolutely thrilled and proud to be the winner of the ‘Mentor with the Most’ award at The Vibe Awards!” she said.

She thanked The Venues Collection for organising the awards and everyone who nominated and voted for her.

Janene expressed gratitude to Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) and PCMA Asia Pacific for supporting her passion for the industry.

Janene also thanked her students, saying that they are the reason she loves her work.

“My students consistently challenge, inspire, and motivate me,” she said.

Janene’s teaching isn’t just about lessons; it’s about creating a community where each student feels appreciated and encouraged.

ICMS and the Mentorship Ethos

Janene’s success is not just her own win; it fits well with ICMS’s main values.

ICMS is The Professional Mentor, and this is at the heart of its culture.

Mentorship is about helping students grow and succeed in their careers, and ICMS’s Professional Mentor program offers various ways to help students.

It includes the Mentor Connector Platform, one-on-one placement sessions, personal application interviews, and help with setting up LinkedIn profiles.

These, and other, resources ensure students are ready for their future careers.
