Why did you choose to study at ICMS?

The amazing location, the fact it offers trimesters (instead of semesters), and when I went on a tour of ICMS, I felt really welcome.

Why did you choose to study your particular course?

I love everything about Sports and it’s something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. Doing this course shows there is so much more to sport than what happens on the field.

Have you undertaken practical experience excluding industry training during your degree?

I went to the Eastern University Games in Wagga Wagga and had the best week of my life. I got to meet people from different degrees and at different stages of their degrees. We exchanged common experiences at ICMS and, right from the start, we were all friends because we were proud to be representing ICMS.

What do you enjoy about your course?

Introduction to Sports Management was a highlight of mine as it showed the importance of everything that happens behind the scenes in sport.

What are your plans for when you complete your degree?

To continue playing sport at a high level, retire and use my degree to take on a role within a sporting organisation.

You were awarded the HostPlus Sports Management Scholarship. Congratulations! What motivated you to apply?

I always try to participate and give everything a go, and the staff at ICMS encouraged me to apply for the scholarship. Preparing for the application was a great experience in itself, because it helps you think about the past and all of the life experiences that you have had. I was grateful for the application process itself as it helped me create a vision of where I want to go in life.

What extra activities have you been involved in at ICMS as a result of your scholarship?

I have participated in a number of large events such as Open Days, high school visits, and career expo days. I loved these experiences as they help you realise how lucky you are to be a student of ICMS and, most of all, because it is so easy to attract new students with everything ICMS has to offer.

What sporting or recreational activities do you take part in at ICMS?

I have been involved in the ICMS Futsal competition, the ICMS Bandicoots Rugby Team and the ICMS Uni games football team.

What are your highlights so far?

Becoming a member of the ICMS Bandicoots and helping the team make history by playing in two rugby competitions in one day, which has never been done before. I was also lucky enough to be the first try scorer in the ICMS Bandicoots Halligan’s Cup team. I also participated in the ICMS Uni Games Football team, which was a highlight of mine as it gave me the opportunity to play football for the first time since I was 10 years old.

What advice would you give to someone considering study at ICMS?

ICMS offers a unique experience compared to any other institution both in terms of education and social experiences. If you’re not certain of what you would you would like to do for a career, ICMS will help you find your interests. For example, all I knew was that I love sports and that is my passion, but the ICMS Sports Management Course has taught me about the background of sports, and sports from all angles. ICMS has helped me find myself, and find where my passion is in sport, off the field.
